    Appreciate your response breiti.

Funny, but that's exactly what I've done. Well, I guess unless a new build will pop up by Friday (slim...), I'll take the time throughout the weekend to wipe again and reinstall. This time from scratch altogether. PC and BB.
I will also backup only databases prior to upgrade and will install the applications manually. one by one. Cumbersome, but lets hope it works.

ouch , hate, when that seems to be the only solution, I have the feeling, that I spend more time in doing exactly what you're planning than actually using the berry ...on the other hand, I have to try hybrids and OS leaks...so I guess we're true addicts already

OK, Reinstalled OS and apps. Manually:
    1. Backed up databases using DTM.
    2. Reinstalled .425 on PC (used the Full version came out 2 days ago on BBHybrids).
    2. Wiped my 9500 completely with BBSAK.
    3. Loaded OS through loader.
    4. Restored phone book
    5. At that point I tested SMSs and once again came to the same result: No contact name appears in the SMS header, just their phone number.
    6. Got Frustrated, restored other DB + Reinstalled all apps.

BTW, I reside in Israel. For some reason, since build .230, I get the message: "Smart Dialing is not supported in your country" in phone options when trying setup smart dialing. However, SMSs did show contact name up until .402. And in time, I did install .328, .371, etc. where everything worked well.

    Any insights/ideas????

 installing the "true" 425 - which by the way can be found in our download section here as well
would have been my next try as well. Could it somehow be a carrier issue, that your carrier's service books aren't compatible with the OS? Just guessing.

I'll try to get some more answers.

Maybe a stupid question, but have you tried registering HRT and resending service books?
    • options
    • advanced options
    • host routing tables
    • menu key
    • register now

    • email settings
    • login if necessary
    • help
    • service books
    • send service books

Thanks breiti, I truly appreciate the effort.
I also tried installing the "hybrid" of the 9550 .428 on top of .425 per the guide from this forum. Same outcome.

You raise a good point here although it seems a bit weird that my carrier (which btw is Orange IL) service books are not compatible with the OS. Is is possible they are compatible with .328 but not with .402 onward? is there a significant change in the way the OS handles SMS between the various builds?

Not a stupid question at all. Having being so frustrated I skipped resending service books and only did HRT registration.

However, after resending service books, still getting the same result :-(

    Os 5.0.0.425

    if required shrink with shrink-a-os
    install to your berry
Thanks for your advice. Works like a charm. Certainly no more Os 4,7 for me.
In fact I really now question the logic of installing hybrids as my phone now is a rejuvinated machine!

Brightspark or anyone else who's interested in an insane Hybrid for your Storm1's...

im a VIP and Help/Support team for BBhybrids.net and Lyricidal has an awesome new hybrid built with these specs...but there is a catch...you have to be VIP to get it....so either join up or wait and hope....

its got 300+ .428/425/415/411files (in the full Java)

and its the most stable memory i've seen..my storm is running like a Hurricane....

otherwise i recommend trying 95x0 - .328/405 Hybrid which is available to all members of the site....so give it a shot and dont forget your findings....

    Glad to hear!
And I am having similar thoughts - with a stable and smoothly running 425 I am still tempted to try newer hybrids, yet, haven't dared to do so so far

Is Orange IL supporting the Storm? When I tried to check their web site, I only found them offering 8900 and 9000?!

I seem to browse faster with GPRS but unable to open pages with 3G. What's going on here?
