Thread: Memory Leak???Help

I've spent the last couple of weeks testing out OSs/hybrids w/the least Memory leak. I am caught up between Crackman's V10 over 328 or 323 and Lyric's 405 over 323 or 328. I am not having much luck. I monitored it today and had 402 over 323 but Memory leaked worse than a full Baby's diaper:baby:.. The Hybrids are great but the base OSs are suspect in terms of memory leaks. I am thinking its most likely 3rd party apps but Its near impossible to determine "Which" one may be causing "Memory Leak".. I would really appreciate some feedback and/or some advice in regards to which OS/Hybrids Generally plays nice w/3rd party apps.. Its a tough thing to find out but I know am in the right place ()to get the "Closest" possible solution or possibilities to tackle this Nearly Impossible Journey...Thanks in advance for your assistance

I could never notice much of a difference in memory leak from hybrid to hybrid. I would be willing to bet thats themes/apps are the number 1 cause for leakage. With hybrids everyone is pretty much using the same parts. You will never convince me that one hybrid could cause any significant advantage as far as memory leak goes. Just my opinion.

I am with nate. If you really want to know what app is the problem app wipe then all and reinstall one at a time letting each one on the phone for a few hours. That will give you the most accurate results

You're right about the theme thing..I am running the Bedroid/Itim theme and swap back and forth. In your opinion, what theme works for you w/memory leaks..Thanks for your insight!

Only theme that won't have memory leak is the default Zen :lmao:

Nate's theme Amp'd seem to do well for me. It was the only one that really did. Others will leak plain and simple as that. There is not really any other except for the stock Zen theme as Nate said.

I know Nate's right about that..Is Nate's Theme incompatible w/5.0 though.I dont like doing the "white bars fix"..I have "visual arts" an automatic wallpaper changer so theme fix isn't for me...Great point though...I may have to do just stock if this cannot be reasonably resolved...btw..which amp'd theme do you use..My favorite was the blck and blu and possibly the Blue n red one!!

Ok..Will wait In the meantime, I think am going back to Crackman's V10 but not sure if I should load it over 323 or 328? I am also thinking of using .191 radio as well..Read a lot of Great things about that swap..

Are you running BerryWeather v2.0? It's leaking & has a few bugs to boot.

No I am not.Am in the process d/l 323 and will install V10 over it >>> use .191 radio. As for theme, I will stay stock for now and do persnl testing w/3rd party apps as well..

A theme to try would be miro 2.0. It has been doing great for me. I would link you but I am mobile. It is here in the bbos forums

OK J..I've decided to go stock theme..Today my memory didn't leak at all. I started with 48.12 MB (have 11 3rd party apps)at 6am this morning when I checked my phone this morning and I had 47.9MB at 7:35p today...I will try Miro though and do another test..If not, I will stick to stock theme(as hard as that will be)..Thanks for the input..

I don't get memory leaks. My girlfriend and I have the exact same theme and we have the same apps. Well Actually she has a few more apps then I do. Here phone never has memory leaks. Mine is out of control. I will start the day with 32.4MB and by the end of the day I will be around 2.3MB I just don't understand it I have reloaded the OS and wiped a few different times. Is it just my phone??

What I would Recommend to do is to Wipe (2-3times)your phone using BBSAK. Then Load OS. The theme (BeDroid and Itim)is what caused mine to leak. I did a test myself by keeping Stock theme all day(6am start) and my memory didn't budge much..Started w/49MB w/15 apps and ended up w/48.2MB by 7:30pM.. Remember no 2 storms are alike..Good Luck..

Themes are definitely the most common culprit of memory leaks. I was just recently using ITIM found here on BBOS and even though I love the look of the theme it has a MASSIVE memory leak so I had to delete it. I was also using the new berry holiday theme which also leaks but not as much as itim but made the phone, especially the keyboard lag a lot.
I was using Natemz theme Blackberry pro v4 (red) before I tried those other 2 with no problems so I went back to it. It does leak a little but very very little and nothing compared to those other 2 and very little lag. I recommend it to everyone.
