Better Radio(.191)?????

I read in the 9630 Blog that .191 would make their Os faster in general...Whats the procedure in swapping radios. I've never done that before and do need advice. I have S1,,Thanks in advance for any help...

I have not read the specific instructions for the process that you want, but if it's just swapping radios, then it's easy. You will need to have both OS installed on your PC, then go to c/program files/common files/research in motion/shared/loader files/OS/ the copy the CDMA folder from OS .191 to the desired OS, same location. Then run loader.exe to load to phone.

There is also a way to do it with Shrink-A-OS or Swap-A-Radio, but I have read that with higher OS, those programs are not successful in swapping radios. :)

**BTW, there is more to the process than just swapping radios. Make sure you follow the instructions carefully...as you would need to do some editing of files.

Oh..if that's the case,I will not attempt to edit no files and do this swap radio thing....Am not that Technically inclined w/this Hybrid stuff:confused:..Thanks for the quick response though...

I swapped the .230 radio for the .191 and it does speed my baby up, it really isn't that difficult but ya might want to do more research before you mess with radio files. All I did was used bbsak to do a low-level wipe...I have OCD with doing that..then I downloaded .191 and installed it, then copied the CDMA folder and then deleted the CDMA folder in .230 and then pasted the .191 to replace the .230 CDMA folder and then used shrink-a-os to reload the os/hybrid.

Oh yeah, it boots up even quicker too. I'm loving this hybrid setup a lot! :hail:

So is there any need to "edit Files" like Olta suggested..your directions seems simple enough w/out editting. I will try that..Thanks

I didn't edit any files and I didn't brick my baby...even though I love bricking her...since It didn't brick or give me any errors, It was a success! :D

Oh I do..Its just time consuming..Installing two OSs..Then deleting the other..Shrink OS..Etc...Its straight forward..

The weird thing is I didn't delete .191 os and still came out perfect, as you mention it...I will delete it now! :lol:

Am babysitting 4 kids and watching my Lil Boy..So its taking longer than normal..lol

btw, what is your base OS? I have 230w/.191 radio/.405H. It loaded up Extremely nice and smooth. Only issue is, I have this loaded on a non active S1(Dont know if transmitting data will be as smooth as the install (I hope so). so I am now going to load it onto my "active" S1. Mine is .230/.351/.191 radio, I'm tired and can't think right at the moment so yeah but my buddy has been using the .191 radio since it leaked and I liked how it was fast and very responsive. I'd say go with .230 base but its up to ya! I've only had my 9630 for maybe a week or so and glad I got it cause my 8330 just wasn't powerful enough for me and not a lot of options with it.

I think you're right! .230 seems to be real smooth. I will load it up now on my active line. Worst comes t worst, I'll just test out 323 on the inactive line when I recharge my brain...lol... Thanks

It doesn't hurt to test out .323, I agree with that. Same here, I need to catch some zzzz. My brain is just not there...wait it is never there! :lol: No problemo! :D
