Thread: Memory Issues

Did the the 114 and 3.5 upgrade to my phone, when I was through I had 32.5 MB of memory. Which was what I had with my old OS but it is more stable now - fluctuates between 30-32.

As stated, the screen rotation is much faster and apps open quicker.

Problem is I am seeing peeps boast of 40 and 50 MB of memory after an OS upgrade.

Am I doing something wrong? I did not wipe my phone before I did the upgrade, is that the problem?

Any help would be appreciated.



On another note. I am on least a dozen forums of various nature across the innernet!! This has to be one of the most helpful one that I have come across. Usually on a forum when you ask a question you get the usual answer "DO A SEARCH"!! By the time you do a search you get 50 results with 20+ pages each. When you get through reading you are sometimes worse off that when you started.

Well first how many 3rd parties do you have? but I had the same about 35mb after the upgrade....but i forgot to take out like the DOD S/mime, vznav, and a couple other things i dont use....it wont be the same depending on how many of the applictions you left on

Well I did install DOD S/mime because I did not know what it was at the time and I thought it better to install it and not need it than don't and end up in problems. But I don't have any other apps installed!!

Don't worry having those installed won't do any harm, plus they are fairly small.

people with higher memory tend to shrink down their OS for the most part. i boot up with 55MB but my java folder is 23.7MB so i dont have much. i deleted all the stuff i dont ever use.

try deleting all the languages , that is a big memory clump i believe andall the IM programs you dont use , just uincheck them on your next load

also themes i hear cause alot of memory issues

memory is basically just a number. weather your at 10 or at 45. unless you plan on loading the phone with apps (and i mean load, i have like 21 apps and im sittin steady at 15). it all depends on the phone. my phone will be at like 5 mb and runs like a champ and ive seen phones that get to 10 and run slow as fuck. i wouldnt get to wraped up in trying to make your phone have 45 mb

i think im going to delete everything on my phone except the ability to call people so i can have like 70MB at start!!!!

the highest I have ever gotten to was 61mb.

Yup. Wthout slimmed down and no apps highest ever was 51.6mb

Your welcome, another great thing about this site is the fact when you do a search, you should come up with pretty good results. We have been changing titles of threads from "please help" to the question being asked.
I recommend that this be done at the origin of a thread. It will help us all in the future as the site grows.
