9500 126.96.36.1998 installing problem
Hi guys, I just updated my FW to 328 and it works great. Desktop manager didnt detect it but i used the apploader method i read and it works just fine.
Now my dad who has a 9500 also wants this new FW, but whatever i do, it doesn't detect an upgrade for his phone.
His current FW is 4.0181 which was the same as mine when i did mine.
I tried removing and reinstalling the FW into my PC.
I even tried switching SIMS with him.
It just doesnt seem to want to upgrade his.
Can anyone please help? Or does anyone have the same problem trying to install twice on the same PC?

Reason: title corrected
There was a post here some where about this.. I am trying to find it but not having any luck... If anyone konws that post to the RIM download to correct this problem please post it up or help me to find it.
thx for the reply!
I tried installing desktop manager on my laptop and the 348 FW, but same results...
Sounds like a vendor file issue to me. Do other carriers besides VZW use vendor files?
I've deleted the vendor files...
I followed the same steps on my Dad's phone as I used on mine. And mine works like a charm but the software doesnt detect any upgrades on my Dad's phone.
Re Verizon, I have no clue, i'm all the way in Singapore lol, but i guess they do considering the fact that i saw one and had to delete it. I'm trying to downgrade his phone now and try again later to see what i can get.

I give up trying nothing i do seems to work.
If someone can shed some light, I'd be really really grateful. Thanks guys
and make sure you disconnect from the internet before you upgrade
hi bud, thanks for that but it still doesnt work, searching didnt bring up any vendor.xml except those in my bin, which i then deelted
Um... even tho my BB is upgraded to 384, when i plug it in and go to apploader, 5.0 still shows up as an option etc, but it doesnt at all on my dad's phone...
just wanted to clarify that
delete them out of you recycle bin, make sure to advance search and then unplug your internet connection
my dad's SIM is not blackberry service enabled, does that have anything to do with it?
will try unplugging now.
update: still doesnt work
Now i realise another really weird thing. When i start up addloader, all i see is
Email application set up
Documents on the go
When i open desktop manager and click add applications like how you would try to install any apps into your phone, I also only see those 2 things listed on top.
Whereas on my phone, i see all the normal stuff like languages and apps like BB messenger etc.
Why is my Dad's phone like that? lol

it should not as you are using a .exe to install right? you downloaded it and installed on the PC?
what do u mean using .exe to install?

just make sure i get everything right? the os wont load on your dad's 9500 but it doest it on yours?
navigate to c/programfiles/common files/research in motion/app loader and locate the file named app loader (looks like a small phone icon) if you are using vista right click and select run as admin if xp double click on it and follow the onscreen steps
hi bud thanks for your reply, yes you got it right

We were both on 4.7.0181.
And yes, I used the same steps I took to install mine on my Dad's but it just doesnt show up.
I have reinstalled and deleted everything close to 10 times and it still doesn't work. It doesn't even work on my other laptop.
Here is are 2 pics to explain what i mean clearly.
The pic on the left with a whole list of apps is mine.
The pic on the right with only 2 apps listed is my Dad's
i dont know why but im really beginning to suspect this is due to the fact that my Dad didnt subscribe to any Blackberry Plan with our local service provider. He basically just uses it for calls and sms
That wouldn't make any sense what so ever. Try this for me... Plug in your Dad's phone, open Desktop Manager. Look at the bottom and does it show you his PIN?
