Do I need these? "Blackberry S/MIME Support Packages" & "DOD Root Certificates"

OK, so I'm installing a new leaked os & through the app loader & am now at the "Application Loader Wizard" with all the apps listed with check boxes next to each. I know what all these are except two of them... "Blackberry S/MIME Support Packages" & "DOD Root Certificates". Can someone tell me what these are & if I need them?

Blackberry S/MIME is a component of the Blackberry Enterprise Server.
DOD Root Certificates enables encrypted cetrificates which are enbedded on CAC card (Common Access Card) a Department of Defense security feature.
As to how your phone will function without them, and what they may integrate with now, would be a question for BBcrackman.
Unless told otherwise, I'd keep them intact.

What if I don't use Enterprise? Will removing this still affect my phone somehow?

This is what I could find:

They work together. S/MIME is for encrypting e-mails, the DOD Root Certificates are the certificates for the DOD Root servers which authenticate the user's certificates used to encrypt the message.

The S/MIME support only applies if you're encrypting e-mail, It requires BES, and the DOD Root Certificates are only applicable to DOD Employees, or those doing business with them.

    DOD is Dept. of Defense
It has to do with Public Key Encyption/Infrastructure and digital signatures. Both of which are used a lot by the U.S. government.

    An error that may occur:
Application Terminated : Monsoon Service Has Been Denied The "Cross Application Communication" Permission

This message appeared again when trying to update Weatherbug. Uninstalling it was a solution

My interpretation, if you use BIS, you may have an issue with weatherbug.

Thanks Neo! That's definitely helpful information. So pretty much, from the sound of this, I don't need either, as I am neither a DoD employee, or use BES ...or use weatherbug. Thanks for the info man!

The DOD root certificates are required to access DOD databases from your browser including the DOD mypay and Army Knowledge base. If you're not in the military you basically dont need them.
