i have bbm 5.0 working on this release. you need the official rim release and before downloading choose allow for all application permissions. i used wifi for this because im too lazy to do the browser fix kuz i never use it. You can use your blackberry homepage to get the official release if your carrier doesnt have the upgrade bbm service book yet

I dont backup/restore any settings when doing a new OS... I already knew this, and I use google sync to restore contacts which is about the only thing I care about on my BB at any one time.

Stable and Fast
Upgraded 2 days ago from 297 Hybrid. No problems during process except phone hung during restore process. I unplugged USB and pulled battery then hooked up again and process finished. Blazing fast browser. Decent battery life. Available memory is slightly lower than Hybrid I was using. Two problems noticed: 1. Had to do browser fix because I am on AT&T. Used Google to search for this and it is easily taken care of and fixed. 2. Voice Activated Dialing did not work. This did work on 5.0.190. Workaround for this is to download both 238 and 190 to your computer and copy all VAD files from Java folder on 190 to 238. Then delete 190 and run apploader again. I love the new threaded SMS. With these workarounds (AT&T) this is the best OS I haved used. Looking forward to official 5.0 release soon.

from the sounds of your post it would seem as though the next os after this one will close up just about every issue and at last a truely great os will have been made by rim.
