No idea why there is a difference.

the branding version differs from person to person, i beileve its phone or something. i dont remeber what that number is besides that its differnt from phone to phone.

I have been using this OS for a long time now. I find it to be very stable and it seems the memory management is very good. After battery pull I have 56, it settles down at around 54. After heavy use with TweetGenius, Ubertwitter, MySpace, Berry weather and MSN Messenger apps running and browsing, emailing and texting it can get down to 48 but before i know it its back up to 54. My battery life is about a day (from 8am to 3am) I charge every night when I get home from work. I really like this build and would recommend it to others. Remember upgrade your OS at your own risk and everyone's results maybe different
