Thread: 5.0 Beta Removed

Running 5.0 with the first beta version was a total disaster for me and I have removed it and gone back to 4.6.

The first image shows that I am running low on memory and when I checked the actual memory, I saw that I was at ZERO.

This has never happened to me before.

I have removed 5.0 and before anyone installs this new version, be aware that none of your IM programs will work as many other programs.

I have had the phone hang several times and once it re-booted for no reason.

To remove 5.0 is in no way an easy task.

You first need to uninstall the 5.0 from your computer. Then you will need to wipe your phone. If that does not work as it did not for me the first time, I then used JL commander to reset to factory default, remove the battery and then it wipes the phone again.

However, the New Blackberry loading bar still stayed and my installing of 4.6 still did not work.

A third wipe was needed and I am now back with 4.6.

I will wait till there is a 5.0 version that will allow all programs to work before trying this again.

That is too bad to hear...but I guess like any beta this is always a possibility.

Thanks for the thorough findings...I hope that others will report theirs.

I had the same problem and solved it as follows:
Uninstall the 5.0 from my PC and reinstall 4.6.0.247, then the Desktop Manager and conect the phone to the PC.
Then select the application loader and then the updater application.
Verified that the system had been installed and suggested degraded to 4.6 ... that was loaded.
Finally everything became as it was before.
I had a similar probrema prior to 4.6.0.245 and I proceeded in the same way with the same good result.

I think that there will be many people going back to 4.6

It is really too bad as 5.0 did have a lot of new sutff in it.

Guess we will have to wait for the next release but would be nice to have someone (Not me) try it and post their findings on how the next release works.

from my experience, you gonna get the best of 5.0 installing it using DM 5.0.
a lot of ppl reported issues with the browser, happy to say is not my case, had my browser working just after re sending my service books, just need to be aware of the browser cache, the more content stored the slower the browser runs, i've noticed that is not more tzones icon too, wich i love, anyway i never use it, no mem leak, descent battery life, very estable radio, some bugs here and there, but to be a first leak, for ME and just for ME, is overfilling my spectations.

I agree, it worked much better the second time around using DM 5.0. The browser fix takes less than 5 minutes to perform.

Still, I am going to wait till RIM has a fix so that you can install Yahoo, etc....

I expect that there will be an other version in the next few days or so.

except Facebook. that is not a big loss

Welcome to BBOS Mindy! Right there is no further os past 5.0.0.100 that is leaked or official sadly.

hello i am new to this Forum, and i already know i'll be a Frequent flyer here
i installed OS 5.0.0.100 on my Bold (upgraded from 4.7.0.141 using DM 4.7) i am having problems with internet, email and BBM, its slow, working, but slowlly. do u think that if i reinstall it with DM 5.0 it will fix this? i have alreasy changed the service book so now i have Browser on the browser props. instead of hotspot browser.
with DM 5.0 can i install 5.0.0.100 on my storm as well?

Unfortunately you cannot load Bold OS onto storm, unless you have 5.0.0.100 specifically for storm.

There are several hybrids available that incorporate many of the 5.0 files into the latest Storm OS versions. I for one really like the 5.0 fonts

As Olta and Morgan have stated you cannot load the bold OS onto the Storm, but BBCracmen's V7.1 hybrid does include a ton of .100 files.
