I put it on my 8900 and it seems alright but have had several issues with it:

Cons:

1. My DNS doesnt refresh. Often wont be able to connect to internet and have to go in and flush the DNS

2. Keys seem touchy; menu key will sometimes skip opening the menu and go to the app-switching menu. Often when I text I strike a key and it puts a . and capitalizes the next letter. Doesnt do that with other OS versions and no, its not my phone...

3. Some 3rd party apps, like quickpull, doesn't play well with it.

4. Often won't pick up EDGE and I get stuck with edge until I reboot.

Pros:

1. Boots fast :Eyecrazy:

2. Cool new features but also same ones available in .348

3. Like the texting feature

4. Do like the picture sending feature. And this one sends photos much better than 348 did.


Theres some more that I cant recall right now. But I am about to wipe and revert back to 348, I had no issues with that one.

That's wierd bro, I'm install it couple days ago, and has no issue at all.
In fact, I think this is the best leak os for 8900 and 9000.
'Cause in other os before this one, I had some issue in media palyer (music)
I didn't found that issue here.
My third party apps is :
- capture it
- data backup
- quick pull
- blink,
- bb translater
- alkitab go bible
The rest is add on apps. Everything is runs well.. Thanks.

another bug found! yesterday i got a contact sent by BBM in .vcf format
as soon as arrived on my phonebook.... i couldn't edit it !
it was ok on OS 4.6.1 but not in OS 5.0.0.411

my name is Miroslav and i am on vip mobile Serbia but i dont have bis or bes.
Today i load this OS but my browser is only hotspot browser.
Can i set it to internet browser without bis or bes and is there some fix...?

Yes,i was.
Before 5.0 i was on 4.6 without bis or bes and my browser was great.

I have a blackberry curve 8900 and i am on the orange network and i just wanted to know when is the new os 5.0.0.411 coming out on the orange network?

That's unfortunately impossible to answer. Only time will tell, sorry. But be sure, that we will monitor and inform asap. But you could try this release, only make sure, you delete the vendor.xml on your PC prior to installing.

At Blackberry Web Portal they have OS 5.0.0.661 for the curve 8900 listed but it looks llike the same OS 5.0.0.411 even when i try to save it the same folder i downloaded OS 5.0.0.411 to it wants to overwrite it.

8900jEastAsia_PBr5.0.0_rel661_PL5.2.0.31_A5.0.0.411_Optus_Mobile_Pty_Limited.exe

It's the EastAsia version, and the SW release is .661 - but the applications are .411 - so it is the same .411 already out - except for East Asian language support. No need to install it, if you already have .441 on.

that's true bro, if i should wait my country operator realese the oficcial os, maybe untill 2050 will not come out .

Same here, I would be old (any maybe finally wise) if I would wait for my country's
provider, fortunately for me, Vodafone in other countries is much faster ...but as said, for me other carriers' OS worked well when installed without the vendor.xml.

anybody having issue with videos that used to play before not playing after upgrading to this release? I installed this to a friends phone now none the videos will play.
any ideas?

What did you upgrade from?

upgraded from 4.6...... i cant remember it came directly from T-mo. so whichever os they send stock

I've heard it many times and experiencing the same issues here, except for a few basic video codecs a more enhanced playback compatibility seems to be gone with higher OS 5.x builds so far...but I am sure, there will be either a clever OP finding the required cods from an old OS to make it work again - or RIM giving it back to us with an even new OS...

This OS is running smooth..
