Thread: 8520 5.0 os help!

Ok, so I'm a little new to the BB world. Pretty new to smart phones. Not using it for work use but for a personal one. I've noticed a lot of things i'd like to try are for 5.0 only and my 8520 is still running on 4.6. Now, i've had someone tell me that I had to down load the OS I want onto my laptop (i'm using Windows 7) Do I have to use the BB disc that comes with the BB to put it on? If not where do I save it to on my phone? I don't want to perma lock my phone and kill it. So before I try this I need some advice. If you could give some I would greatly appreciate!!!

Try to redownload it and save it first. Then try to open it. See if that helps.

ok finally got it (the os you sent me was a dud, so i had to search around for another one) thanks a bunch!!!

annnnnnnnnnddddddddd now it's not letting my web browswer work??

Have you tried re sending your service books? Did you receive the BlackBerry Registration message when your phone booted up?

I'm assuming since your fairly new you would want to use an official os.

If that is the case, I would recommend one of these: Download Center for 8520

I did check the file above that you said was dead, and it is downloading now.

You should familiarize yourself with All In One Guide - How To Upgrade Your Device - w/ Pictures & Video.
It is everything you need from start to finish.
