The Blackberry 8530 Gets a New OS... Soon!
Its seems that Big Red has working on their to be time for the 8530 to get an OS overhaul. OS 5.0.0.508 is coming soon to the 8530 from, the Big Red Monster, Verizon. A release date is not mentioned in the Verizon PDF files, however the newsletter expresses that launch day is not far. I am hearing rumors that it will be release in the next week or two. Some of the changes in the OS will include:
- Simplified lock-key function
- Overall improvements to battery life
- Improved video streaming
- Improved Voice Activated Dialing function
- Message enhancements
- Bluetooth improvements
It also seems that Push To Talk could very well be added into this OS aswell. The reports from our previous article about PTT, talk about the 9630 & 9650, with any luck Big Red will make this work for all of their devices.
Although it is not live just yet, the release documents list the download site as verizonwireless.com/curve8530support for the upcoming OS upgrade. As soon as the release is public, we will have it right here on BBOS or you can visit the site provided by Verizon. Just as I said about the Twitter and LinkedIN apps, "Let’s hope this monumental day comes sooner than later!". Stay tuned for more updates.
