This new software seems to have fixed several problems and the display contrast seems to be improved however the fix for one problem creates another problem for users of direct connect. In previous software versions the user could get quick access to another direct connect user by entering the first initial of the intended contact from the keyboard when the home screen is displayed, and then pressing the direct connect button. Apparently this caused some problems with how the contact list was sorted (or something else related) because in version 5.0.0.807 this function was removed. Now there seem to be two options for direct connect. One is to find the contact in the contact list then select the direct connect entry, then push the direct connect button. A second (usually faster way) is (from the home screen) press the desired contacts initial, then press the red phone button, then scroll down the recent calls list to the last time this contact was made, and then press the direct connect button. A possible work around could be setting the direct connect entry as a speed dial number and once this was chosen use the direct connect button. Unfortunately Version 5.0.0.807 does even let the user set a direct connect entry as a speed dial number.
A second (minor?) issue, why does the new version take so long to download and install. One phone took two hours the second one looks like it will take even longer.
