I am a newbie to OS, and have Yahoo Messenger on my 8330. I no longer want this app, because it drains my battery at an alarming rate. I have deleted it in the app menu already, but it continues to show up and to drain my battery. Can anyone tell me in simple laymans terms how to get this off my phone completely and permanantly?

Couple of questions....are you familiar with the Desktop Manager and can you tell me which OS you are running?
Example 4.x.x.xxx or 5.x.x.xxx
You can find this in your about screen which is in your Options section.
No, I am not familiar with desktop. That was my husbands thing, and he is no longer around. And I think I am running 4.5?

Then if you have done this then you very well me seeing the Yahoo Launcher. This won't necessarily mean that you still have the Yahoo IM application installed onto your device.
How long have you owned this BlackBerry?
If this device is several years old then the battery issue could very well be that you have reached the end of life with that battery.
Only had the phone a few months, I have task manager, and when I look at it, shows messenger as running and using the most battery of anything running
Okay then the best advice I can give you is to then download and install Desktop Manager for BlackBerry onto your PC.
Once you have installed this application, you will then be able to remove the IM application through the the AppLoader procedure.
It's not difficult at all. The biggest thing will be getting you to download Desktop Manager.

use the number 999-999-9999. It will work. I don't like handing out anymore information than I have too.
Once you have this downloaded and installed to your PC, let me know then we will move forward.

hey MePascal.....sorry it took so long for me to get back on here. Had to threaten my ex for a freakin USB cord fo the phone. anyway, i got on BBdesktop manager, and it says i have existing BBsoftware running on computer, but, how do i know what it is?

Are you sure your running the app? I have a feeling you just have the launcher that is pushed to your phone to download the app, not the app.
